A new free Web utility, Indelligent (link), may be of interest to those who sequences nuclear diallelic templates, particularly introns. When one of the two alleles contains a deletion, direct sequencing produces a convoluted trace containing multiple double (superimposed) peaks. The new tool reconstructs both allelic sequences and the indel(s), which will often help avoid the cost of separating alleles via cloning. Because the convoluted sequence is input as a string of IUPAC symbols, the utility may be particularly useful for people working with Sequencher of Phred, which both allow easy recalling of the original trace with such symbols. A pdf of the paper is available at link Your comments are welcome.
